High strength interstitial free steels were designed to provide an excellent combination of drawability and mechanical strength based on their specific interstitial free (IF) metallurgy. These steels are hardened by adding manganese, silicon and phosphorous in solid solution to the ferrite. They are particularly suitable for complex parts requiring high mechanical strength. These steels have high strain hardening potential during forming.
The combination of High strength interstitial free steels (like HX220YD+Z) and the organic coating Estetic® Casa Protect provides the best solution in terms of mechanical performance, aesthetics and surface protection. Compared with products obtained by means of post-painting (where the paint layer is applied by a wet or dry process after forming), ArcelorMittal’s Estetic® Casa range of organic coated steels is the best choice for combining technical and economic advantages with respect for the environment. A wide variety of surface appearances, textures and colours is available.
In terms of gloss, Estetic® Casa can range from very low (≤ 10 GU) to very high gloss (≥ 90 GU). These organic coated steels are also characterised by a level of performance designed to meet the technical requirements expected during the manufacturing process and to preserve product quality during the lifetime of the appliance.
Estetic® Casa has been developed in compliance with European environmental standards and regulations. The composition of coatings meets the requirements of the W.E.E.E. and R.o.H.S. European directives.
